Life Experiences: Lessons From the Book of LukeParaugs
A Good Receiver of God’s Word acts it out!
Jesus' story of the 'Sower' presents four kinds of receivers of God's Word. Today let me focus on the Good Soil.
The good soil has three characteristics: He hears the message, he keeps it in his heart and he remains faithful and produces good crops.
Let me piece by piece share with you how I see these three characteristics:
First, a man who is a good soil hears the Word but further he listens to it and place it securely in his HEAD (mind). There, this new INFORMATION about God creates a change in his attitude towards Him and in the way he thinks about life.
Then, he does not only keep the Word in his mind but he allows it to trickle down to his HEART, where he is convicted of a need for TRANSFORMATION, on how he shows his love for Him, by loving his fellowmen and on how he should focus more on eternal matters, than on earthly concerns.
Finally, the Word of God flows to the man's HANDS, where all the things he learns and get convicted about become ACTIONS. It is when the Word of God becomes his way of life. So, everyday he becomes a person who cares about God's concerns and because of that he shows mercy to others and acts out charity.
Prayer for Today: Father, please let me be a good soil. Let me be an honest person with a good heart. Let me always listen to Your Word and lead me to keep it in my heart, that I remain faithful to You so that I may bear good fruit for You. In Jesus name!
