Trusting God in a Financial Crisis

3 DIENA NO 7

Day 3—God already owns everything we have.

You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth. — Deuteronomy 8:17–18 (NIV)

There’s an old-timey word that I want to introduce to you: stewardship. It basically means someone entrusts you with something, and you’re expected to take care of it on their behalf. Leading a team of people or resources at work is an example of stewardship. You don’t own them—you manage them.

Can you see where I’m headed with this? Yep—you’re a steward of the money and resources that God’s given you since the whole world is already His! As God asks in Job 41:11 (ESV): “Who has first given to me, that I should repay him? Whatever is under the whole heaven is mine.” Stewardship isn’t limited to money. Everything you have—your time, your skills and your possessions—is given to you by God.

Now, of course, you must take personal responsibility and work hard. In fact, because God has trusted you with His money and resources, you better take it seriously! But at the end of the day, your ability to earn money and build wealth is given to you by God.

Stewardship is one of the most important money concepts that the Bible teaches, so take some time to apply it to your life:

·  If it’s true that God owns everything you have, how should your life look different?

·  Set aside time to think about how you can steward the money, time and talents God has given you.

Trust God with your money and get his guidance on how you spend it. He owns it anyway.
