The Revelation of Jesus Christ

The ancient Greek word translated as "revelation" is apokalupsis (apocalypse). The word simply means "a revealing, an unveiling."

This book vividly shows us the Antichrist, God's judgment, calamity on the earth, and the Mystery Babylon. The introduction highlights the most important truth in the Book of Revelation: "the Revelation of Jesus Christ to us." If we catch everything else but miss Jesus, we miss the Book of Revelation. How we need a revelation of Jesus!

There is much to unpack about John's vision of Jesus: His eyes, His countenance, the authority coming out of His mouth, and the symbolism of every detail. We could dive deeply into each of those topics, but the most impactful thing is what Jesus says to a very dismayed individual who recognized his fragility in the light of whom he was observing.

Jesus spoke with the power to create, start something that he completes, empower the weak, and perfect by his love: "Don't yield to fear. I am the Beginning and I am the End, the Living One! I was dead, but now look—I am alive forever and ever. And I hold the keys that unlock death and the unseen world"' (Revelation 1:17-18 TPT).

We all hear the word "apocalypse" and, for the most part, can't help but imagine the unbearable—the end of the world. We have been programmed to fear.

However, Jesus is speaking. He invites us to unveil Him and have confidence in who He is, reminding us that He is Emmanuel—God with us—and His perfect love casts out fear. We have nothing to fear because He so loved the world that He gave us Himself and continues to remind us, "Behold, I will be with you till the end of the age" (Matt 28:20).

Question: Are you aware of what the book of Revelation unveils about Jesus?

Prayer: Meditate on Romans 8:37-39. Give thanks to God for His love and ask Him to unveil Jesus in a new and profound way.
