Red-Letter Day

DAY 11 OF 12

“It is finished.” Yesterday, we began to think about what those final words of Jesus as He died on the cross meant. The good news is Jesus finished what God sent Him to do by dying on the cross and returning to life three days later. While Jesus’ business is finished, ours is not. We have unfinished business with God. Now that you’ve identified your unfinished business, it’s time to finish strong, just as Jesus did.

We live in a culture where we start many things but finish few. So how do we follow Christ’s example and finish strong? The Bible shows us two ways to finish strong. The first is to make a commitment. A commitment isn’t just eager willingness; it takes actually doing something about it. This leads to the second thing, which is to simply take the next step. Take a step. Then take the next step after that. Don’t stop. Keep going! The chasm between where we live today and where God desires for us to be may look overwhelming, but you can cross it one step at a time, and with Jesus’ help.

For some, it will take baby steps. For others, it will take getting off the couch and taking some big steps immediately. You don’t have to map out the whole thing at this point, just get started! What’s your next step? Write it down. Place it somewhere you can see it every day. Don’t just talk about it; do it. Pray and ask God today to help you stick to your commitment and take your next step.
