More Than Just a Story - the Book of Johnಮಾದರಿ

Jesus has had enough! The Jewish leaders have been pecking away at Him, and He spells it out for them in no uncertain terms. In this section of scripture, He tells them point-blank who He is and what is coming.

I like knowing ahead of time what is coming, don’t you? It gives me time to plan and prepare. Maybe there is an uncommon expense coming our way, and knowing about it ahead of time allows us to start building a savings account to handle it when it arrives.

The thing that stands out to me from this section of scripture is the fact that what’s coming, for followers of Jesus, is a resurrection from death. What’s coming for followers of Jesus is eternal life. Jesus promises in verse 24: “I assure you, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent Me have eternal life.”

It doesn’t get any better than that! That’s what’s coming.

One final observation: Jesus says in verse 30 that “His judgment is absolutely just.” Everyone will be handled fairly.

Thoughts to consider:

1. Are you struggling with your present circumstances? If you are a follower of Jesus, better things are coming.
2. Have you lost a loved one without knowing if they were a follower of Jesus? You can rest assured that Jesus handled them fairly and justly.
