Know Jesus, Make Him Known

DAY 2 OF 5

What It Means to Abide in Jesus

“Abide in me, and I in you... Apart from me you can do nothing.”
John 15:4-5 ESV

In John 15, Jesus introduces a new way of thinking about our relationship with Him. He calls it ‘Abiding’.

Abiding in Jesus means more than simply believing in Him—it means making our home in Him, and allowing Him to do the same in us. Just as a vine and its branches are inseparable, Jesus invites us into a deep, life-changing connection with Him.

Think about marriage. Before you get married, you may live alone or with friends, and your space is mostly your own. But when you get married to someone and move in together, ‘my space’ becomes ‘our space’. Sharing a life together means sharing every space and time. That’s the kind of closeness Jesus invites us into. When we “move in” with Jesus, our relationship with Him shapes everything we do and say.

When you abide in Him, His love, wisdom, and strength flow into every part of your life. You’re not expected to bear fruit on your own; it’s your connection to Him that brings lasting transformation. Wherever you feel distant from Jesus, remember His invitation is always open: “Come, abide in Me.”

What does it look like for you to make your home in Jesus this week?

Pray:

Lord, teach me to abide in You. Help me make my home in Your presence and allow Your love to shape every part of my life. Amen.
