Empower Your Kids to Become Children of Godಮಾದರಿ
How to educate?
The Bible shows us that children are shaped by both role models and external influences. Eli's sons are examples of negative influences, while Samuel was able to grow spiritually through the example of Hannah and Eli.
Negative example: Eli and his sons
In 1 Samuel 2:22, we read about Eli's failure as a father: he knew about his sons' immoral behavior, but did not intervene. They abused their power, harmed the people of Israel and desecrated the service of God's tent. Eli failed to set clear boundaries and exemplify godly values such as respect, obedience and humility to his sons. This failure led to their moral and spiritual decline.
Positive example: Eli and Samuel
Despite Eli's mistakes, it is clear that he was a good teacher for Samuel. In 1 Samuel 3:9, Eli encourages Samuel to listen to God's voice. This scene shows the balance between guidance and trust. Eli recognized that Samuel needed to develop a personal relationship with God.
Samuel, in turn, was shaped by his mother Hannah, who instilled godly values in him until he was weaned. Even after he was handed over to Eli, she visited him regularly and brought him an outer garment - a symbol of his special calling. Hannah shows how important it is to bless children and give them confidence, love and identity, even if she cannot always be present.
Principles for a godly upbringing
- Love and support: Children need unconditional love as exemplified by God. This promotes self-esteem and provides security.
- Patience and understanding: Just as Jesus always had time for others, parents should also be present and patient.
- Set clear boundaries: Eli's mistake shows how important consistency is in parenting. Children need rules that are supportive and not restrictive.
- Be a role model: Children learn the most from their parents' behavior. Those who honor God and live authentically also inspire their children.
- Involve God: Through prayer, blessing and faith in God's guidance, parents can facilitate the best for their children.
Parenting does not succeed through perfection, but through dedication and the willingness to grow. Parents who orient themselves towards God create an atmosphere in which children can thrive - characterized by love, respect and divine guidance.
Next Step: Ask Jesus for guidance in raising your children and write down specific things you want to change or need help with.
