Empower Your Kids to Become Children of Godಮಾದರಿ
What is the goal?
What is the aim of education? Is it to prepare our children to find a well-paid job later on? Is it to ensure that they live in a reasonably decent home? Or is it to enable our children to have a happy relationship and perhaps have children themselves one day? Raising children is one of the greatest tasks that God has entrusted to us. But the aim of education is far more than just laying the foundations for a successful, independent life. Rather, it is about bringing our children close to God so that they learn to trust him and follow his ways.
In order to find the right path in a world full of challenges and temptations, children need spiritual guidance. The Bible is our compass that helps us to distinguish between good and evil, right and wrong. It is like a light that shows us the way (cf. Psalm 119:105). Parents are called to bring this light into the lives of their children by teaching them the Bible and exemplifying the values of the Gospel.
Nevertheless, both children and parents are repeatedly confronted with situations that seem unfair or hopeless. It is at times like these that it is tempting to turn away from God and try to solve problems on our own. Our job as parents is to help our children put their trust in God - even in times of sadness, frustration or anger. In this way, they can learn to recognize him as a guide who will lead them through all of life's challenges.
Because God is the source of life and the best companion on all paths. Even when we feel that he is far away, he is already preparing the next miracle in our lives (cf. Proverbs 3:5-6). In this process, mothers and fathers form a strong foundation on which their children can build their lives.
Parents are like baton bearers who pass on their faith to their children. This does not mean perfection, but authenticity: being a role model, learning together and trusting in God in difficult times. Only in this way can children find a firm foundation that will carry them through life. The most important question is therefore not what we teach our children, but where we lead them - closer to God, the source of all wisdom, love and hope.
Next Step: How do you model your faith to your children? Ask the Holy Spirit to give you the right words to explain to your children in a way they understand why your faith is so important to you.
