Prayer Journalಮಾದರಿ
Hi again! It’s fun to walk alongside you as you build your prayer journal. Be creative with it if you’d like, writing verses in creative fonts or colors. As you read God’s Word on your own and come across a verse that makes you stop and think, build a new entry and write out that verse. If it prompts further reflection, write your own prayer prompt for yourself. Then, continue coming back to this journal for contemplation and prayer time.
Lastly, I want to walk you through the ACTS prayer tool. ACTS is simply an acronym for Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication. In one way or another, we’ve touched on most of these during our time together. But this is one of my favorite parts of my personal prayer journal, so I want to share it with you.
At the top of one page, in large font, write Adoration. Then, document a few things that you adore about God. For example, one day, you may write, “You’re holy” as you reflect on His glory, and another day, when you’re feeling sorry for your behavior, you may come back to your journal and write, “You’re faithful, long-suffering, and full of grace.”
Then, move to another page, writing Confession at the top of the page in large font. Below, share with God some of the ways you have fallen short (Romans 3:23). Be specific. In one journal, I remember that my first entry was, “I’m sorry for yelling at my kids.” As you allow yourself to be honest with God, He will shape you and gently heal your broken parts so you can work through your struggles and failures, being filled with His love and strong character.
On the next page, write Thanksgiving at the top of the page. Begin by writing 3-4 things you are thankful for.
Finally, find a new page and write Supplication. Then, write some requests that You have.
For a while, I used the ACTS prayer section of my journal each morning as part of my prayer and Bible study time. Daily, I wrote a few items in each of the four sections until I filled all four pages. When my kiddos were around, they’d share things they were thankful for, and I’d add those to my journal. I enjoy pulling those journals out to reflect and pray in a fun way that sparks loving memories. I’ve also moved on to another section of my prayer journal and replicated the process by adding another page for gratitude or the ACTS prayer all over again. Get creative. Develop your own prompts; remember, you’ll thank yourself later!
Thanks for taking time to read through this reading plan and for building a prayer journal. I’d love to hear how you’ve used this journal. Feel free to send me a picture of your journal, a video of you singing one of the verses you memorized, or other journal prompts you developed! I’d enjoy hearing how God used this reading plan to bless your prayer life.
God,
Thank You for making us creative beings who can give You glory in all kinds of ways. Help us become prayer warriors.
Amen
Ashley
