DAY 28 OF 30

When Jesus described the end of the age, He shared a dire warning. He said that “the love of most will grow cold” (Matthew 24:12). What love was He talking about? It’s the love that is first kindled within the heart of a Jesus-follower when they put their faith in Jesus. It’s what fuels their worship, empowers their trust, and spills out in service and love to other people. It’s that “heart on fire,” so to speak, that keeps drawing them to God, no matter what circumstances they come up against. In the last days, things will be so dire that many will allow their troubles to quench that fire. It will be a time of severe testing, and only those who remain loyal to God will be saved.

The uncertainty of the future is a scary thought, but being faithful for the long haul is what following Jesus is all about. Faith isn’t just about the first time we come to Jesus. It’s a daily relationship with God. It’s day after day after wonderful day. It’s turning from sin over and over, being loyal to God no matter what, and trusting in Him even when life gets dark. It’s not for the faint of heart. That’s why all of us who love Jesus must train ourselves for the long haul.

So, just keep faith. Keep seeking to learn more about who God is through His Word. Keep praying and asking Him to go to battle for the ways of His Kingdom. Keep living the way He has shown us. When things get tough, cling to Him.

About this Plan

Reign

History tells many stories of drama regarding kings and queens. This governmental system of power and our fascination with it has existed throughout history—even in Biblical times. In this devotional, we’re going to take a closer look at some of the reigns of the kings who ruled over God’s people and what we can learn from the lives and reigns of the people who led God’s people over the centuries.
