Day 1: Anchored in God’s Purpose
Understanding Your God-Given Calling
Scripture: "Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails." — Proverbs 19:21
Devotional
As a mom in business, you carry many responsibilities—from nurturing your children to managing your business. The weight of balancing these roles can feel overwhelming. But take heart—God has called you to both, and He will equip you to fulfill His purpose in these areas.
God’s calling for you is not just about success in business or raising well-mannered children. It’s about glorifying Him through every task, conversation, and decision. Your business is more than a means to earn income; it’s a platform to serve others, reflect His love, and fulfill His kingdom purpose.
When I first launched my business, I struggled with doubt. I felt guilty for spending time on work when my children needed me. I questioned whether I was doing enough in both areas. One day, while praying, I felt God whisper to my heart: “You don’t need to choose. I’ve called you to be both a mother and a business owner for My glory.” That moment shifted my perspective. Instead of seeing business and motherhood as competing priorities, I saw them as interconnected parts of God’s plan for my life.
The world often tempts us to pursue our own plans, driven by ambition or comparison. But Proverbs 19:21 reminds us that, while we may have many plans, it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. God doesn’t call us to perfection—He calls us to faithfulness. When you anchor your life in His purpose, you find clarity, peace, and strength—even in the chaos of daily life.
Remember, your work as a mom and a businesswoman is not about achieving worldly success. It’s about trusting God to guide you as you live out His purpose.
Reflection Questions
- Have you sought God’s purpose for your business and family?
- How can you honor Him in the way you serve your family and your clients?
- Are there any areas where you feel you’ve leaned more on your plans than on God’s purpose?
Action Step
Spend 15 minutes in prayer today, asking God to reveal or confirm His purpose for your business and family. Write down any impressions or ideas He places on your heart. Consider journaling your reflections on how you can align your daily actions with His plan.
Devotional Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for calling me to be both a mother and a businesswoman. Help me to see my roles through Your eyes, knowing they are opportunities to glorify You. Align my plans with Your purpose and guide me to make decisions that honor You in my work and my family. When I feel torn or overwhelmed, remind me that You are my strength and wisdom. I surrender my ambitions and trust You to lead me every step of the way. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
