Born to Save: The Christmas Story of Jesusಮಾದರಿ
Rediscovering the Wonder of God’s Word
Matthew 1 tells an astounding story we may have heard countless times: the birth of Jesus Christ. The eternal Son of God entered His own creation, stepping down from heaven and taking on human form to save us. This narrative invites us to pause and reflect upon its significance.
Consider the privilege we have today as we hold our Bibles. These aren’t just pages bound together but the very words of the living God, communicated to us through prophets inspired by the Holy Spirit. These words, full of life and truth, have been preserved over centuries. We get to read them, study them, and allow them to shape our lives. The Bible is a treasure beyond measure, one that we can rely on to sustain our souls and guide us for eternity.
For those of us raised in Christian homes, Scripture may feel familiar, woven into the background of our lives. Others may have encountered it later, discovering a hunger for these truths only after coming to faith. Either way, whether we’ve known these words for decades or are new to them, we face a shared danger: treating this divine revelation as common. Familiarity, if we’re not careful, can lead us to take these truths for granted, dulling our sense of wonder.
Matthew’s account of Jesus’ birth challenges us to remember the extraordinary nature of God’s plan. The Creator of all things, the One who spoke the universe into existence, chose to enter our world as a child born of a young woman in humble circumstances. He didn’t come with a display of power or spectacle. Instead, He took on human nature quietly, fully, and humbly. The eternal Word became flesh, not to awe us with His might, but to walk among us, experience our struggles, and offer Himself as a sacrifice for our sins.
“Emmanuel” means “God with us.” Those words echo through history, reminding us that Jesus’ presence wasn’t a temporary event but an invitation into an eternal relationship. He walked our roads, faced our trials, and died in our place. And while He ascended into heaven, He remains with us through His Spirit and promises to come again.
Today, let’s approach Scripture with fresh eyes and open hearts. What might God reveal to you if you truly engage with His Word, setting aside routine and approaching Scripture as the life-giving treasure it is? This week, spend time meditating on a passage you know well, asking God to renew your wonder and deepen your understanding. Let the words of the Bible transform your mind and your heart so that you may carry the reality of “God with us” into your daily life.
