Opening the Bibleಮಾದರಿ
Where to from here?
Give yourself a high five for making it to day 17 of this Bible Reading Plan! Now, you might be wondering what the big deal is about all of this. You might wonder—what am I supposed to do with the Bible?
If all you walk away with is that you should read your Bible more, you’re missing the point.
We don’t just read God’s Word; we put it to work in God’s world. We don’t just read it to gain knowledge.
…But while knowledge makes us feel important, it is love that strengthens the church. Anyone who claims to know all the answers doesn’t really know very much. But the person who loves God is the one whom God recognises. (1 Corinthians 8:1-3 NLT)
As we gain a better understanding and appreciation for God’s Word, may we remember to humbly use it to make a difference in God’s world. May we never use Scripture for our own self-importance, but may we always use it as a way to reveal God’s love to those around us.
So, what’s the big deal about the Bible? It’s the inspired Word of God that teaches us how to live. It corrects us, transforms us, renews us, equips us, encourages us, and helps us get to know God. But it’s too important to keep to ourselves.
Jesus gave us final instructions—called The Great Commission—that give our lives purpose. His mission for us? Share His good news with the world.
The thing about good news is that you share it. If you don’t think the Bible is good news, you’ll treat it like old news, and you don’t share old news.
So, what’s your role in the Great Commission? How can you be a part of getting the Bible to everyone?
Prayer | God, thank You for using Your Word to pursue me and transform me. May I use it humbly to bring You glory. Remove any temptations for me to use it self-servingly, and help me share Your Word with more of Your world. God, I pray for more people to hear Your Good News. Give me boldness and a willingness to live out the Great Commission. Amen.
