Meditating on God's Word
Today's verse gives us the key to prosperity and success in life. Now, keep in mind, this is not a worldly picture of prosperity and success. This is true prosperity and success, as God defines it. And it comes not simply from reading God’s Word but from meditating on it day and night.
Do you want the kind of success and prosperity that will never end? I’m guessing you do. In fact, I don’t know anybody who doesn’t want true prosperity. The key, according to Joshua 1:8, is this: “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth.”
God’s Word should be in your mouth. This is part of what meditation is. It involves saying God’s Word and letting it soak into you. This goes beyond reading God’s Word just to check off a box on a to-do list. If we meditate on God’s Word and are careful to do according to what is written in it, we will prosper and have good success in our lives, the kind of success that matters.
Prayer
God, we want prosperity and we success in every right way. And toward that end, we pray that you would help us meditate on your Word day and night. Help us to do that from the moment we wake up in the morning until late at night, when we fall asleep. We want to live in your Word.
May your Word not depart from our mouths, as we say it over and over again to our own hearts, and as we spread it to others. God, help us to proclaim this Word that brings prosperity and success, to people around us and to people around the world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
