Anything but Ordinaryಮಾದರಿ
It’s all about Him
There are two incredible things about this gift of Grace from God.
Firstly, it brings a great sense of peace and joy each day. There is no striving or trying harder at life so that one day God might accept me! It is the opposite.
It is recognising 'Wow! God loves me as I am in spite of my mess! Now I get to live for Him out of gratitude!’
Do you know how incredible it is to wake up in the morning knowing you are radically loved by God? It changes everything! We don’t try to be more like Jesus to earn His love, we try to be like Jesus because we have His love!
Secondly, this removes all pride from our lives. There is no room for boasting when we realise our need before God.
We live in a world summed up by the song ‘I did it my way’ by Frank Sinatra. I have done it on my own. It’s all about me. In fact, God owes me a thing or two because of all that I have achieved.
But, using Frank Sinatra as an example, ultimately he was created by God as we all are. Frank's gifts were from God - as all of ours are. There is no room for boasting in ourselves and what we have accomplished. These are all gifts from our Creator.
There is no room for boasting in our abilities and successes when it comes to the Christian life. There is only space for humility and servant-heartedness when we recognise that we can’t do anything to earn Christ’s love and that our gifts and abilities are an overflow of His Grace in our lives.
I recently watched an interview with Anthony Tan, Co-founder of Grab, one of the most successful billion-dollar businesses in south-east Asia.
He said, ‘Jesus came into our world and served us. Each day I remind myself all the growth of the business is 0% me and 100% God. When I made my first million, it’s all you Jesus. First 100 million, it is all about Him. First billion - it’s all you Jesus.’
There is only room for gratitude in Christ when we realise His work in our lives.
Action Point: You could say this prayer: Dear Lord Jesus. Thank you for the life and gifts you have given me. All I have is a gift from you. Please help me to use all that you have given me to make you famous in this world. Amen.
