Beyond Belief

DAY 17 OF 28

"You got yourself into this mess. You'll have to get yourself out of it."

Whenever you hear this, you know things are in pretty bad shape. It's the sort of thing people say when you've made a mistake so big that nobody's interested in giving you a hand. Maybe you've put off your homework for such a long time that now you've only got one night to do it all. Or maybe you wasted all your money on dumb, small stuff and now you can't afford something expensive you really want. Whatever it is, you're in a mess. You're the one who made the mess. And now, you're on your own.

It does happen that way sometimes, and it's never fun. But one area of your life where you don't have to worry about that is your relationship with God. God will always guide us, according to the Bible. In fact, Isaiah says that we'll be like gardens with waters that never go dry.

Sometimes, when we really mess up, we're scared to go to God for help. We're ashamed. We're embarrassed. And mostly, we just think God is probably too mad or disappointed in us to care. We're the ones who got ourselves into this mess. Why would God want to help us get out of it?

The answer is simple. God loves us and understands that we mess up sometimes. There is no such thing as messing up too much to ask God for help.

About this Plan

Beyond Belief

The Bible is full of statements and stories that seem "beyond belief." Some sound too miraculous — like, did God really split a whole sea in half? Other things sound too good to be true — like, is God really as loving, patient, or powerful as Scripture says? If you've ever wondered if what the Bible says is really worth believing, this devotional is for you.
