Biblical Justice

DAY 2 OF 5

God has a plan to restore shalom and bring justice. That plan involves you. As followers of Jesus, we are called to react to the hurt and injustice we see in the world by doing something about it. If you see a need, meet that need. Do what you can to bring healing to that situation. That’s the essence of Biblical justice - not politics, protests, or big demonstrations. While those things may play into justice, Biblical justice is simply meeting the needs we see around us.

Now, you might think the need is too great - that nothing you do will make a real difference. But, instead of focusing on what you don’t have, think about what you do have to offer. In Acts, we read how Peter and John met a man with a disability. This man came to the temple asking for money, but Peter and John didn’t have any money to give. They could have told the man sorry and gone on with the rest of their day, but they didn’t. Instead, they offered the man what they did have - which just happened to be healing!

So, what do you have to offer those who are hurting? Maybe you can give encouragement, a smile, a few dollars, or a listening ear. It might not seem like much, but even small things can make a big difference in someone’s life.

Next Step: Look for a way to meet someone’s need today. Maybe you can hold the door for an elderly neighbor, help a friend with a project, or donate some money to a charity. Find a way to help someone who is hurting in your life.
