How Do I Deal With All My Crazy Thoughts?
Have you ever asked yourself, “How do I deal with all my crazy thoughts going through my head?” Or, perhaps you’re feeling trapped in a vicious cycle of negative thoughts and up-and-down emotions. I’ve certainly been there! Thankfully, early in my walk with Jesus, I began to learn one of the most important and transformative truths we can experience as Christians—the power of renewing our minds!
You see, our thinking controls our lives. As a matter of fact, Proverbs 23:7 (NKJV) says For as he thinks in his heart, so is he… In other words, each of us becomes what we think. Our character is the sum total of our thoughts—which is why it’s critical for us to think properly.
Just as plants spring up from hidden seeds in the ground, every one of our actions springs from the hidden seeds of our thoughts. Friends, our thoughts are not simply fleeting ideas—they influence every decision, word, and action we make. Every time you have a thought, it actively changes your brain and your body—for better or for worse.
What does this mean practically? We need to take hold of our thoughts and set them in the right direction. Our thinking must be transformed. Romans 12:2a (NIV) says Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind… The Apostle Paul is telling us not to conform our thinking to the mindsets, ideologies, and philosophies of this present age, but to instead be transformed according to the Word of God!
As you engage with God’s Word:
● What is God saying to me?
● What does it mean to me?
● How can I apply what God is teaching me?
● How can I be specific in prayer today?
After you reflect on these questions, bring everything to God in prayer.
