God's Gloryಮಾದರಿ
Jesus entered His glory through suffering
“But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death” (Hebrews 2:9)
Jesus suffered terribly. He went through death. He defeated Satan, and now He sits at the right hand of God the Father, in the most honorable place. This is how it was planned by the triune God even before the creation of the world. That's how it ‘must’ happen, Jesus says.
Hebrews 2 says that we do not yet see that everything is subject to Jesus. He is King, but we still see many things happening around us that go against His will. That will not happen until the new earth comes. Yet, we know that Jesus is already crowned with honor and glory.
When Stephen died, he saw Jesus at God's right hand, full of glory. John saw Him in various visions in all His splendor. Many witnesses met Him after His resurrection and saw Him return to heaven.
Jesus has regained His glory, even more than ever before because He is now also honored for His sacrificial work of salvation. That is His ‘well deserved reward’. This knowledge gives us confidence that Jesus truly has all power and that He will put an end to all evil.
Do you long for that?
About this Plan
The Bible speaks much of God's glory, expressed by the words כָּבוֹד (in Hebrew) and δόξα (in Greek). This is God’s heavenly splendor and majesty that sometimes becomes visible on earth. This reading plan will show you how great God is and how you as a believer can share in His glory.
