Use the potential God has placed in you
First read Proverbs 16:3 and Matthew 5:13-16.
Can you remember the last time you dreamed really big? What wish made your heart beat so hard that just the idea of it coming true kept you awake at night? As children, we still had big dreams and freely told those around us that we wanted to be President or an astronaut when we grew up. Or that we would stop climate change, find a cure for cancer, or defeat world hunger. As children, we don't let ourselves be limited by our circumstances or our supposedly limited possibilities, because we're convinced the world has been waiting for us and our ideas.
But every time we were ridiculed for our dreams, this conviction crumbled. And at some point, we settled into the comfort zone of what we believed to be possible. Especially when we encounter resistance, we quickly become despondent and think that we, as individuals, can't make a difference anyway. This is only true until we bring God into the equation. While we focus on our weaknesses, God sees our unused potential and knows exactly what we are capable of. When we learn to make plans together with Him, our lives will bear fruit (Proverbs 16:3). He has already placed within us everything we need for a fulfilled life. He not only gifts us with the strength and skills we will need along the way but also provides us with the people who will later help us live out our calling. But how do you succeed in living your calling? You can start by remembering a simple truth that you believed so effortlessly as a child: you can change the world. You were made to be a light to this world (Matthew 5:13-16).
