The War on Wisdom

DAY 8 OF 35

Picture an open bottle filled with water knocked over by a clumsy dog who snuck in and tried to grab a bite of chips left on the side table. Your father comes in, angrily asking why there is water all over the table and floor. You blame the dog for the watery mess. Your brother blames your sister, who left the door open for the dog to sneak in. Your sister in turn blames your brother for leaving the bottle open and the chips unattended. Your grandmother walks into the room because of the commotion, and hearing your father again ask why there is water all over the kitchen answers that it is quite simple. There is water all over the floor because there was water in the bottle.

What “spills” out of us when life hits us is determined by what is inside of us. A phrase that can help us with this is GIGO, “garbage in garbage out”. What we fill our minds and hearts with, is what will come out of us. If we fill our minds with things that are antithetical to God’s character, we will reap what we sow. If we fill our minds with the things from above, we will reap a harvest of righteousness.

Take stock in prayer about what you allow into your heart, what you need more of, and what you need less of. Start reflecting on what comes out of you in difficult situations. This is of great help in determining what your heart is full of.

About this Plan

The War on Wisdom

We are at War, a war raging since the day that man decided to choose a way other than following the Counsel of God. But God in His grace gave us the strategy we need to be victorious - His Wisdom. The 'War on Wisdom' is a 5-week reading plan through parts of the book of Proverbs. Our purpose is to help the believer reclaim the Wisdom of God.
