The War on Wisdom

DAY 12 OF 35

When we are in school, we are taught through the practice of repetition. Whether it is reciting math's facts until we quote them in our sleep, memorizing the lines of a speech until we can deliver them flawlessly, or running the same drill in a sport until we master its application, it is the repetition that strengthens our skill. We put forth the effort and set aside the time to learn so we can gain the knowledge to do well in school, and hopefully in life.

How much more so should we apply our efforts to the truths given to us in the Bible. Throughout the book of Proverbs, we are taught the values of Wisdom. The author of Proverbs reminds us again and again of the benefits of operating in wisdom and the consequences for choosing foolishness. It is in the repetition we learn that a wise man is humble, teachable, careful to listen and to pay attention, takes heed of knowledgeable counsel, and discerns the heart of God. In contrast, we learn the fool is full of pride, is haughty, follows his own leading, speaks without listening, and rebuffs instruction.

We are reminded in Ecclesiastes 2 that “there is more gain in wisdom than in folly, as there is more gain in light than in darkness.” Through the daily practice of reading the Word, seeking the Lord in prayer, and worshipping our Creator, our ability to discern what is true, just, honorable, and wise will grow so we can walk in unity with the heart of our Father.

About this Plan

The War on Wisdom

We are at War, a war raging since the day that man decided to choose a way other than following the Counsel of God. But God in His grace gave us the strategy we need to be victorious - His Wisdom. The 'War on Wisdom' is a 5-week reading plan through parts of the book of Proverbs. Our purpose is to help the believer reclaim the Wisdom of God.
