The War on Wisdom

DAY 3 OF 35

One of the first things we do in our search for wisdom is to choose who we are going to listen to. We must start differentiating between the voices that draw us closer to God and those that draw us away from God. The Bible makes it clear that there is a worldly system that ultimately leads to destruction. In contrast, there is wisdom from above that leads to life.

We know all too well the stories of children, and even of adults, that have been led astray because they listened to the enticing of others who had chosen to do wrong and live without wisdom. Like little Jimmy who went along with Jack when Jack decided throwing stones at passing cars was fun. Or Sarah who would drink too much and drive home only because she listened to her “friend” who sees nothing wrong with it as long as you don’t get caught.

Listening to the wrong voices can have dire consequences, and the father warns his son to stay away from those that have set their hearts on living their own way, according to the world.

Meditate on Psalm 1 and focus on the differences between the wicked and the righteous. Be honest before the Lord and ask Him to show you what voices, whether friends/family/social media/news/etc., you listen to that cause you to go astray. Then ask for wisdom in how you can stop consenting to being enticed by those voices.

About this Plan

The War on Wisdom

We are at War, a war raging since the day that man decided to choose a way other than following the Counsel of God. But God in His grace gave us the strategy we need to be victorious - His Wisdom. The 'War on Wisdom' is a 5-week reading plan through parts of the book of Proverbs. Our purpose is to help the believer reclaim the Wisdom of God.
