DAY 2 OF 4

Train to Win

Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.
1 Corinthians 9:25 (NIV)

At the end of every season, F1 racing teams set specific goals that may be a grid position, specific lap time, or championship standings. Depending on their goal, they strategise and train accordingly.

Paul compares the Christian life to running a race. What is your goal in your Christian life? What are you doing to achieve that goal? Bible reading, prayer, fasting and praying, attending Bible studies, and fellowship are areas we need to follow as a discipline to achieve our goal as Christians.

Discipline involves pain, persistence, hard work, and consistency. The good news is the Holy Spirit is our coach and guides us. In which area of your life is God asking you to discipline your life today?

Prayer

Lord, help us discipline our lives so we would finish the race victoriously. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

About this Plan

Through the Bible: 1 Corinthians

The Corinthian church was the best example for us…not to follow! It was plagued by division, incest, immorality, lawsuits, worship disorder, misuse of spiritual gifts, abuse of the Eucharist, etc. This group of so-called Christians was probably nothing more than a cult to outsiders. Apostle Paul wrote this letter, with madness and heartache, to address the problems, and it has become important instruction for us to discipline the church community.
