The Names of Jesusಮಾದರಿ
LAMB OF GOD
This declaration of John the Baptist is a direct reference to the Old Testament. In Leviticus, we read about the scapegoat. Annually a scapegoat was released into the wilderness to take away the people’s sins. But when Jesus took away the sins of this world, He took them once and for all (Hebrews 9).
I love how prophetic John was by speaking out these words. Because the words speak about Jesus’ sacrificial death as a lamb. In Revelation 5:6, we see the picture after the sacrifice: “Then I saw a Lamb that looked as if it had been slaughtered, but it was now standing between the throne and the four living beings and among the twenty-four elders.” And later in verse 12: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slaughtered to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honour and glory and blessing.”
The prophecy of John matches the prophecy in revelation! The Lamb is worthy to receive everything!
Just like the millions of angels and elders around the throne were singing, “Worthy is the Lamb, to receive power and riches and strength and honour and glory and blessing”, we should be singing these words with our life, with our heart, with our whole being! Today again is a day to live sacrificially for Him!
Maybe it is good to speak this out to the Father and the Lamb: Everything I have received from you belongs to you! I give you my all!
