Rad Dad!

DAY 5 OF 6

How has becoming a father changed your perspective on a Father’s love for his children?

I remember growing up and being around my dad. He was never afraid to talk to anyone. He would talk to people at the gas station, at the park and even the cashier at the grocery store.

I will always remember the two questions he would always ask. Do you have a church home, and do you know Jesus? Back then it would drive me crazy but now I see that he was doing it all to lead me down the right path.

No matter what I did, good or bad, and usually it was bad, my dad still showed me the same love. He allowed me to always do what I loved and most of the time that was skateboarding. Which is funny now because I have been told that I need to grow up and that I was a little old to still be skateboarding.

Now, I am a father of two amazing kids that are totally different. My son is like our other parent and my daughter is just like me. I can see exactly what my dad was teaching me - what is right and wrong. Now I am teaching my kids that no matter what they do my love for them will never change. Teaching them to love everyone, never judge, to always show compassion, and most importantly to make sure everyone they come in contact with knows who Jesus is.

Thank you, dad, for being such a Rad Dad, showing me the right path and reminding me to do the same for my kids. When they are older, they will do the same for theirs.
