A 7-Day Truth Talkಮಾದರಿ
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. (2 Cor. 10:3–5)
It was early October 2011, and my husband and I were taking a look-see trip to Paris, the City of Lights—a trip designed to see if we would be willing to move there for 2–3 years. If you have been to the city of Paris, you know how different it is from small-town suburbia. I was wide-eyed and a bit unsettled. A vacation? Of course! A move? Hmmm? Not quite convinced! On one occasion during our trip, I’d had about all I could take of BIG city life. I sat down on a bench near beautiful St. Chappell and cried, “No way am I coming here to live!” But the Holy Spirit in me had a different idea. Gently and quietly over the next few days, the Holy Spirit reminded me of 2 Cor. 10:3–5, a passage I had memorized only months before our trip. The words, “and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ” hit me right in the center of my heart. The Word took aim and hit its intended target.
From that moment, things changed, and I changed. Rather than seeing the unknown and scary probabilities, I began to see the possibilities. I began to get excited about how God could use me in Paris! I saw the same City of Lights, but now in a new way, and I powerfully felt God’s strength and presence. Speaking God’s truth had changed everything.
What has God called you to do? What steps has the Spirit nudged you to take? Following God’s call can be scary, but a person armed with the Sword of the Spirit, God’s Word, can move from scared to empowered. Begin today to employ God’s Word as you go about your day. Ask Him to bring words of truth to your mind to embolden you. Remember you have a powerful, God-given tool to employ: “take every thought captive to the obedience of God.”
