Swords Up: How to Use the Weapon of God’s Wordಮಾದರಿ
Principle #2: I read God’s Word every day.
Some days, we cook a full meal, and other times it’s a trip to the drive thru. Either way, we make sure we eat. Unfortunately, many of us are physically full but spiritually malnourished.
The Word of God is the daily bread for our spirit. So, just like we cannot physically survive off one meal a week, we cannot spiritually survive from one meal on Sunday morning just hearing a sermon. We have to eat daily and many times throughout the day.
I usually spend my mornings reading from my physical Bible and completing reading plans. Then, throughout the day, I review my morning reading, the verse of the day, and my friends’ highlights on the bible app.
Action Steps:
- Set a Time - Be sure you schedule the time of day that you’ll prioritize reading God’s Word and faithfully keep it.
- Accountability - Two are better than one. Invite your spouse, friend, or other loved ones to join along in a reading plan. Choose a one or two-year plan to help you build consistency.
- Using Your Bible - Consider using a combination of a physical bible and the bible app to read the Word, highlight, and make notes. Use the “Compare Versions” feature in the bible app to read verses in various translations.
