Who Are You Going to Believe?

DAY 4 OF 5

The Focus of Your Gaze Will Determine the Confidence of Your Heart

The wrong outlook caused the people of Israel to disbelieve. They lost confidence in God's promise and in what His voice had told them, and they focused on the challenges and obstacles. This caused their hearts to lose confidence.

The mission to go and see the land that God had promised them, what He had prepared for them, was supposed to be victorious and motivating for the people of Israel, but it became a negative mission in their story.

They failed the test because they listened to the wrong voices and focused on what was being said. In doing so, they lost their trust in God's promises, and an entire generation failed to enter the Promised Land.

In contrast, Jesus, in his forty days of trial, by trusting completely in his Father, was the only person who opened the way to the true Promised Land, the one that brings salvation and redemption. Jesus opened the way to an eternity with God.

In this world we will encounter challenges, but it is important to remember that we are but pilgrims and that what we face now is only temporary. Our true Promised Land is the eternity that God has prepared for us because we have placed our faith in Him.

In the midst of a trial, do not allow anything or anyone to steal the confidence in your heart, because God is faithful and just to fulfill what He has promised.

Where have you set your eyes? May your eyes be constantly on Christ Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.

Prayer: Lord, I pray that in this season, You would help me to stand firm in faith and keep my eyes fixed on You. Fill my heart with confidence, that I would be able to enter victoriously into all that you have prepared for my life. In Jesus' name. Amen.
