The Gospels in 30ಮಾದರಿ
Day 12
Mark 7-9
Sometimes we can be so arrogant to believe that we know the will of God. The reality is we look at our lives and the lives of others through a very narrow scope. We cannot see the big picture, and therefore, we can only rationalize what seems right apart from God.
It’s so important that we have the Holy Spirit so that we might discern His will. Our logical minds can not comprehend His plans. We can only believe and trust that His ways are higher than ours.
In Mark 8, Jesus foretells His death. When He does so, Peter rebukes Him. In verse 33, Jesus says, “Get behind me, Satan! For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”
I believe that Peter actually thought that he was in the right. Besides, what sense would it make for the Son of God to suffer? Why couldn’t Jesus just come and let His kingdom reign?
Jesus had to die. It was the only way for us to receive eternal salvation. Peter was looking through a narrow scope. He was thinking about their current situation. Jesus was looking at the entire picture. Jesus was thinking about the salvation of humanity.
About this Plan
During this plan, you'll read the entirety of the Gospels in just 30 days. Are you up for the challenge? Doing so will require 2-4 chapters of Bible reading each day, along with a deep dive devotion highlighting a couple verses from each day's reading. We hope you enjoy this plan written by Cody Griggs, missionary to Ecuador.
