The Gospels in 30ಮಾದರಿ
Day 16
Luke 4-6
“Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit? A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher.” (Luke 6:39-40)
We have probably all heard the saying, “Show me your closest friends and I will show you your future.” How much more weight does this carry for those of us who are disciples of Jesus?
We are called to make disciples. Disciples, in turn, make more disciples. The pattern continues. If we follow blind leadership, we go in the pit with them. If we lead people blindly, they go in the pit with us. There are rewards and consequences to mentoring and being mentored. It’s imperative that we use wisdom and discernment to choose the right leaders that we allow to speak into our lives. Jesus says, “...everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher.”
When searching for a Godly mentor, we should consider that we will intentionally or unintentionally become like that teacher. It is wrong to look at this process as just “personal development.” Making the right or wrong decisions in this area will not only impact you, but it will impact everyone that you ever lead. If you are led well, you will lead well.
About this Plan
During this plan, you'll read the entirety of the Gospels in just 30 days. Are you up for the challenge? Doing so will require 2-4 chapters of Bible reading each day, along with a deep dive devotion highlighting a couple verses from each day's reading. We hope you enjoy this plan written by Cody Griggs, missionary to Ecuador.
