12 Days of Healthy Christmas

DAY 7 OF 12

“Never Alone”

If we look to the heart of Christmas, we find reconciliation and redemption. From Adam and Eve’s choice in the Garden of Eden until the present, our world is a fallen one. Paul has stated to us in his writings that sin brings about death.

Jesus’ birth restores life.

Prior to chapter 40 in Isaiah, we see that God is viewed as a raging lion taking out his wrath on the enemy. God’s people had felt that because of their sin, He had abandoned them. Our messenger comes bearing good news. Yesterday, we examined this same thought in light of the watchmen’s view from the city walls.

Today we look to the one who comes and we see His care, compassion, and character. Jesus comes to us as a shepherd. He provides for His people, carries them in His arms, holds them close to His heart, and gently leads them to a new place.

Yesterday, I asked if you felt like a ruined city or even a city in disrepair, and while it is a great analogy to liken our lives to something like a city, a city is still an inanimate object. When our lives are broken, when our hearts are torn, we need the loving touch of a shepherd. If you are broken and wounded, even in the deepest crevices of your heart, look with expectation to a loving Jesus who comes as a shepherd. He compassionately and actively cares for each of us.

He came on that first Christmas morning, and He still comes today with the same love and care as He did when He walked the earth. Receive your greatest gift this Christmas in realizing that our God is actively involved and working in your life.

Healthy people embrace sensible eating, balanced activity, and sincere celebration this Christmas. Let’s not sit and brood over loss, worry about finances, or stress over family relationships. Instead, let’s focus on the Christ of Christmas and live knowing we are never alone.

Health Tip: Healthy eating, activity, and celebration are greater than stress.
