Faith for Open Doors

DAY 6 OF 7

Forward Faith

Motivation can create powerful momentum, especially at the beginning of the year. We all have those habits that need some positive attention. But have you ever noticed that typically, we spend a lot of time talking about changes but then resist taking action?

The power of choice is a gift from God but often we battle with our own self-will.

How easy is it to take steps of faith?

One day I asked God, “What am I doing wrong here?” His response was simple: “Come with Me.” I had to get honest with God at that point and realized I was forcing my agenda onto Him.

So I learned these three helps to gain an action-taking faith:

1. Keep your love on. We can choose where our mind, our thoughts, and our emotions go. This attitude directs your mind and heart to look for the good in circumstances, instead of the negatives, or for when you tend to think that God is holding out on you.

2. Fix your focus. Life is hard and certainly challenging, especially when there’s circumstances beyond your control. When it all comes crashing in, it’s good to take a step back and enlist the help of others who can be objective. Seek a good group of relationships that you can be real and connect with.

3. Continue the conversation with God. Paul chose peace, joy, patience, love and contentment through all his afflictions, beatings, and mistreatments. Paul encourages us to give thanks and pray without ceasing. It’s hard to give thanks to God when things aren’t going well, or like you thought, or when you’re waiting for God’s answer. But prayer does help lift your face to the Lord and let His countenance—His face—shine down upon you. Letting your face and heart meet His will lift your spirits to realize the blessings around you.

When choosing these faith-building steps you are choosing to make a difference in the climate of your home: to be brighter, better, less stressful and with less anxiety. Look for the challenges, opportunities, and new doors opening towards your journey forward by God’s direction. Faith becomes more about seeing the present-future instead of present-past. Looking forward is always a good direction into the unknown because God is already there.
