Book of 2 Kings

DAY 7 OF 8

POWER BEHIND PRAISES

The king of Judah said to his people that believing in God would deliver them from the attacks of the sons of Moab and Ammon. If we read the entire contents of 2 Chronicles 20, there is a divine command which, according to logic, is a strange, unreasonable thing. The king of Judah fought the enemy by singing and praising God. But, when they began to cheer, God made an ambush against the Ammonites and Moabites. All it takes is to believe what God's will and guidance, even if it does not make sense.

What about our current condition? Are you in a heavy struggle? Believe that God exists and He will strengthen and fortify you. How can He do that? Believe that God is able, though there may be no basis for you to believe.

It is not easy to praise God when we are in a state of distress. Sometimes fear and worry dominate our feelings, causing us to not think clearly. There are two choices, first to remain overwhelmed by our feelings.  The second choice is to choose to rely on the power of God by singing and praising God, though it may seem weird to do in times of distress.

Believe it or not, the walls of Jericho collapsed because of the praises and cheers of the Israelites and the chains and prisons that bound Paul and Silas apart when they were raising hymns and praises to God were destroyed. Whatever problems or challenges you face today, there will be a breakthrough, as you believe and begin to praise God. Experience the power behind the praises.

My God, open my lips so that my mouth will praise you (Psalm 51:15)
