JUSTIFIED AND SANCTIFIED
“You are a perfectionist,” this is the word that is said to someone who wants everything to be in order, neat, precise and done in high standard. It is true that if we have a perfectionist person around us, we could have everything in order. Their house and office would be in clean and neat condition. However, we will also be stressful if we have to deal with perfectionists.
Our God is a perfect God. He has His standards, for example in holiness. None will be able to achieve God’s standards. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)
Give thanks to the Lord that our God is not only a perfect God but also a just God. Because of His justice, He forgives us through the sacrifice of His only Son, Christ, so that we are justified and sanctified. We are made worthy to come before Him, the holy God, because without holiness we are not able to meet Him.
Is it easy to live in righteousness and holiness? Of course not! We are still struggling with our flesh. So, how to overcome this? Romans 8:13 says that by the Spirit we could put to the death the misdeeds of the body. God has given us His Holy Spirit. Our part is to have a commitment to live in righteousness and holiness.
May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (I Thes 5: 23).
