Love God Greatly: Words Matterಮಾದರಿ
I love how graphic James is. He's basically saying in these verses that the wildest beast can be tamed, but that no human being can tame the tongue. People like me, who have this tendency of speaking first and thinking afterwards, know this truth painfully well.
The tongue may be a small member of the body, but it has great power. It´s compared to a devastating fire in its power to destroy. It's a big troublemaker. A fire can begin with a small spark, but it can grow to destroy vast areas. Our words, even the smaller, unintentional ones, have the power to start a fire. Do you realize the problem here? Once a fire has been started, we can't control it. We don't have any idea how much land it's going to burn.
Let´s do our best to control the words that come out of our mouths. Being careful with our words is an act of love toward the people who are listening to us.
Oh Lord, I want to honor You with every single word that comes out of my mouth. Help me tame my tongue. Control everything that I think and say and don´t allow me to sin with my words. In Jesus’ name, amen.

About this Plan
In this 4 week study, we will dig into God’s Word and learn what He says about the words we speak to ourselves, to others, and words that change the world. We will learn to honor God and others with the words that we speak. We pray this study gives us great insight into how we can consistently speak words that give life and transform lives.
