Affirmation: Self Or God? By Robin Meadowsಮಾದರಿ
SELF AFFIRMATION:
"I am the best advocate for my goals."
An advocate is one who speaks in support, promotion, or defense of another.
Can you truly be your best supporter? Self-promoter? Self-defender?
Sure...we can step over others to reach our goals. We can push others down to lift ourselves higher. We can be all about self-promotion. But what is the cost? This is a lonely and exhausting place to live.
Isn’t it far better to have someone on your side? A group of trusted friends—your tribe? Your family? Your spouse? These are your advocates!
Encouragement is adding courage to another. Supporting one another when we are weak, standing in the gap when we are failing, catching us when we fall. In this life, we need others advocating, promoting, and celebrating our accomplishments!
Exceeding the support of even our friends and family is the great Advocate—the Holy Spirit. He desires to cheer us on and come alongside us. But many times we get ahead of Him, making our own way, hoping He will join us in our own goals and agendas. We are so busy pushing forward that we don’t even stop long enough to ask Him if we are on the right path making the right choices. We certainly don’t ask Him what His goals are for us. And truthfully, most times, we don’t want to hear what He may say.
There is a better way! His way.
With the Holy Spirit as your Advocate, striving and anxiety can be stilled by entrusting God with your future. Sure, it’s a risk. Trust always is. But He promises to multiply your hopes and goals into even more than you can possibly dream as you bravely choose to release them into His capable, creative hands.
Your bright and glorious adventure of faith can begin right in this moment.
God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us. Ephesians 3:20 The Message
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. John 14:16-17 NIV
GOD AFFIRMATION:
“My Father is the best Advocate for my dreams and goals.”
About this Plan
Self-empowerment and personal development are prevalent concepts in our culture today. Being self-aware, responsible, and knowing your strengths and weaknesses is a plus in life. But, could popular self-affirmations be just far enough from the Truth that believing them could hold you back from living the very best life God has planned for you? Let’s dig into scripture in this 6-day plan by Robin Meadows to see what is revealed.
