Affirmation: Self Or God? By Robin Meadowsಮಾದರಿ
“Discernment is not knowing the difference between right and wrong. It is knowing the difference between right and almost right.” —C.H. Spurgeon
Many self-empowerment and personal development books and blogs promote daily affirmations to put your mind on the right track for achieving your hopes and dreams. Could the difference between “right and almost right” be holding you back rather than propelling you forward in the strength and power of Jesus? Let’s dig in to scripture and find out.
SELF AFFIRMATION:
“I am enough and have all the power I need to accomplish all I want to accomplish.”
Are you really enough? Do you have all the power you need to reach your goals and dreams?
I always thought I was enough, until I didn’t. My thoughts often betrayed me.
You see, I’m a very determined, strong-willed person. Yet, no matter how hard I have tried, I’ve failed many times at accomplishing all I wanted, or thought I wanted, in my life. I found that I was not enough, no matter how hard I tried to believe I was. With all the things I felt I needed to do and be, the overwhelming circumstances of my day or week could quickly drain my strength, my “enough-ness.” My own resources drained and dried up. My strong determination wasn’t enough and I was left with the disappointment of my failures.
Was it because I didn’t believe deeply enough that I was enough?
No. I don’t think so. I found I was just tired of being disappointed in me. At the end of myself I realized that I needed to exchange my not-enough for something greater than me. Someone mightier than my own abilities and power. A Source stronger than my greatest efforts.
Then, I didn’t have to be enough. What a great relief!
You and I were never intended to be self-sufficient, made to live our life from our own abilities. We were created to be anchored in an unlimited Source of strength and power, so that the One who is enough will be more than enough within us. His name is Jesus.
The choice is yours. Will you keep striving and failing to be enough in your own power or will you take hold of the power of Christ in you? He’s calling you to far more than you can ever do on your own.
Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for his miraculous power constantly energizes you. Ephesians 3:20 TPT
GOD AFFIRMATION:
“I am enough only because Jesus is enough in me.”
