Praying God's Promisesಮಾದರಿ
More Blessings Than We Can Count
God wants to bless us, to help us rise above our circumstances, to help us find provision in every lack, to empower us to defeat the evil one, and to enable us with his power to achieve the purposes he’s set for our lives.
Psalm 40:5 recounts the blessings of God: “You have done many miraculous things, O Lord my God. You have made many wonderful plans for us. No one compares to you! I will tell others about your miracles, which are more than I can count” (GW).
God is a God of blessings. In fact, one of his names is El Shaddai, which means “the Lord God Almighty” or “the Lord of blessings.” According to Genesis 17, God introduced himself to ninety-nine-year-old Abram with this very name. “He said to him, ‘I am El Shaddai. Continually walk before Me and you will be blameless. My heart’s desire is to make My covenant between Me and you, and then I will multiply you exceedingly much’” (vv. 1–2 TLV). Abram fell on his face before God, and God changed his name from Abram, which means “high father,” to Abraham, which means “father of multitudes.”
God gave seven blessings to Abraham. We can claim them not only for ourselves but also for our children and grandchildren. “And I will make you a great nation. I will bring good to you. I will make your name great, so you will be honored. I will bring good to those who are good to you. And I will curse those who curse you. Good will come to all the families of the earth because of you” (Genesis 12:2–3 NLV).
Just as God blessed Abraham, God wants to bless us. He wants to walk with us, his chosen ones. He wants to call us his own. Just as he renamed Abraham, we too have a new identity. We are the redeemed, the beloved, the ones who, like Abraham, walk with God.
Your Word says: “The Lord will bless you and watch over you. The Lord will smile on you and be kind to you. The Lord will look on you with favor and give you peace” (Numbers 6:24–26 GW).
I agree: You, Lord, are blessing me and watching over me. You smile on me with loving-kindness. You give me favor and peace.
