Bringing others to Jesus

“He brought him to Jesus” (John 1:42)

Immediately upon their decision to follow Jesus for themselves, his disciples also invited others. They went to see their brother or friend to share the good news and urged them to come and join the growing group of followers. This is a fundamental characteristic of being a disciple — not only back then, when Jesus was walking around and one could literally follow in his footsteps, but also nowadays. If you have found the treasure of eternal life by coming to faith, you want others to experience this abundant joy as well.

We can’t convince other people that following Jesus is the best choice they can make. It has to be their own decision. But we can share our experiences and encourage them to try for themselves. We can invite them to attend a church service with us, or to read the Bible together. And, last but not least, we can pray that God will open their eyes to see the truth.

Some Christians have traveled the world to reach people with the Good News about Jesus. Others evangelize in their home town or among friends. Who could you “bring to Jesus”?
