BAPTISM

The act of Baptism is a public declaration of your belief in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. It is an outward act signifying an inner change. When the Israelites were stuck as slaves in Egypt God sent a deliverer named Moses to bring them out of bondage. They were blocked in their journey by the Red Sea, but God did a miracle in parting the water and creating an opening for all of Israel to cross through to freedom.

Once, you were like the Israelites, enslaved to sin, but God sent a perfect savior, Jesus Christ, who brought you out of a life of death into new life. As the Israelites entered the Red Sea as slaves, but exited in freedom so you enter the water as a slave to sin but exit as a son or daughter of God. Entering the waters of Baptism signifies entering the grave with Christ, and rising out of it in His resurrection into a new life.
