You Are Gifted: Devotions From Time of GraceSample
The Fruit of the Spirit: Joy is a fruit of the Spirit
You know, it takes no brains to be crabby. Nobody has to study how to be negative. What a pain it is to be around grumpy people! And what a pain we can be to other people when we’re like that.
That’s why it’s such great news to hear from the Bible that joy is a fruit of the Spirit. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control” (Galatians 5:22,23).
God actually gives joy to us first and then invites us to share it with other sad people. Christians are really optimists; we know we are loved from all eternity, forgiven by Christ, unchained from the failures of our past, and promised a place in heaven as his gift.
Let the Spirit so lead you today that the people around you will wonder what you’re so happy about! The Fruit of the Spirit: Joy is a fruit of the Spirit
