Pursued by God
As women, we want to feel valued and to be sought after. We want to be desired enough that someone would go to the effort to pursue us. Though it looks different in marriage, friendship, and relationships with our parents, we know we’re pursued when they take the time to focus on us.
Longing to be pursued is not a sign of vanity. God placed that desire deep within us because we were made in His image and He too longs to be pursued - by us. We were created to worship and praise Him. And that desire to be chased is God within us.
God is pursuing each of us all the time. If you’re feeling lonely, abandoned, or unwanted because of what the world says, stop and see how God pursues you. He’s pursued you your whole life, and awareness of His pursuit is how we can recognize His presence.
Think back to the moment in your life where you felt beautiful, lovely, happy. Where were you and what was happening in nature around you?
For me, it was standing at the beach with the wind in my hair. I had always been compared to my sister and felt like the ugly duckling. But at the beach, I felt beautiful. It had nothing to do with my swimsuit or the people around me. Standing there, I felt like a model.
The wind was always there, and now, I’m able to recognize it as God pursuing me. For you, it might be rain that soothes your soul, watching animals in the distance, or a gentle snow where it’s so quiet you can finally hear yourself think. Whatever it is, the feeling can’t be duplicated by man. Only God can speak to your heart in this way.
When you learn to recognize God’s pursuit of you, it will be a comfort to you in the midst of a difficult season or something you don’t understand. He says He’ll never leave us. And if you believe His Word, that means in the brightest times and the darkest days, He’s there. In the lowest points of our lives, God shows us He’s with us through our pain through these acts of pursuit.
You are His treasured creation. He wants you to feel His love. Ask Him to open your eyes to how He pursues you.
About this Plan
