NIV Once-A-Day Bible Worship and Praise DevotionalSample
REMEMBERING YOUR PASSOVER
For nearly 3,500 years, since the time of their exodus from Egypt, the Jews have been remembering the Lord’s “pass over.” God instituted the Passover celebration as an integral part of Israel’s law. It’s a good thing, too. Not long after their deliverance from slavery, the Israelites’ praise seemed to be drowned out by mounting complaints.
Sound familiar? So often we forget God’s blessings soon after they are bestowed upon us, not reflecting upon his interaction with past generations. Do you know in what specific ways he blessed your great grandparents? Have you told your children about God’s blessings in your life? There’s value in both looking back and passing on a record of God’s work. Worshiping God becomes more and more natural when we take time to remember why we worship.
When you begin to complain, sit down and literally count your blessings. You will never come to the end of God’s good deeds.
Here are the blessings, Lord, that I am thankful for today . . .
