The Rebuild: Matthew 5-7ნიმუში

We all know someone who is unreliable. They might struggle with commitment. They may say they will do something, and not follow through, or say they will be somewhere, and not show up. Maybe they have even made a lifelong vow - which is now broken in two.
Chances are, at one point or another, this person has been you. In a way, we all make promises we cannot keep, because we are broken, sinful people.
Thankfully, we have Jesus’ wise instruction to be truthful and to be of good character. We can respond to Jesus’ instructions by honouring our words, honouring our commitments to others, and honouring God as the one in control and the only one we can truly rely on to keep His promises.
So while we are convicted by the truth that we are not honest 100% of the time, we can take heart in knowing the One who is. Paul says in 2 Timothy 2:13 “If we are unfaithful, He remains faithful, for He cannot disown Himself.”
Make a commitment today to be a person of integrity. To honour the One who is faithful, even when we are not. To be people of our word, as we submit to God’s.
Today, ponder this: Why does keeping a promise honour God? How does this change how you approach your commitments and responsibilities?

About this Plan

“You have heard it said…” In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus begins to rebuild and reform our understanding of life in His Kingdom. In Matthew 5-7, He challenges the religious traditions of His day and the competing worldviews of our own. His words are a call to transformation—a new way to live under His reign. As Jesus lays the foundation for His Kingdom, we are invited to tear down false beliefs and build our lives on His truth.
