THE POWER OF FAITH IN YOUR LIFE

We all enjoy listening to people who share their stories of overcoming. Usually, these stories are often marked by many difficulties, struggles and the impossibility of having what they want. But the common point among people who overcome limitations is that they do not retreat in the face of obstacles. They understand that obstacles exist to be overcome, after all, it is “forward that we move”.

Difficulties are not pleasant and, at times, they can even be painful, but it is through them that our faith is tested and approved. Each test we go through gives us the opportunity to perfect our character to be more like Jesus. The apostle James said, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” Perseverance is an essential virtue for anyone who wants to reach maturity and fully live out God’s wonderful plans.

The Christian author C.S. Lewis once said, “Difficulties prepare ordinary people for extraordinary destinies.” This is a great truth that we can experience if we do not back down or give up moving forward in faith.

Throughout the Bible, we can see that all ordinary people who decided to persevere in faith in God’s promises had extraordinary experiences. The author of Hebrews wrote:

How much more do I need to say? It would take too long to recount the stories of the faith of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and all the prophets. By faith these people overthrew kingdoms, ruled with justice, and received what God had promised them. They shut the mouths of lions, quenched the flames of fire, and escaped death by the edge of the sword. Their weakness was turned to strength. They became strong in battle and put whole armies to flight. (Hebrews 11:32-34)

These stories are incredible and go beyond our imagination! God rewarded them extraordinarily for their perseverance in faith.

When we have the firm conviction that God has adopted us as His beloved children, we stand firm on what God says in His Word and not be influenced by adverse circumstances.

We can be encouraged by the examples of great heroes of faith, who although having experienced great opposition and impossibilities, did not back down. Because they kept their faith in God's promises, they developed perseverance and were rewarded with maturity.

In the same way, when we relate to God, we need to truly believe that, despite the difficulties, He is with us at all times, helping us to move forward. And in this process we will become more persevering and gain the maturity to fully live out God's plans.

DECLARATION OF FAITH: I believe that the Word of God has the power to strengthen me at all times. Even if I have to face difficulties, tribulations, or persecutions, I will not back down. I believe that each time my faith is tested, I have the opportunity to grow in perseverance and maturity. And the more I mature, the more I advance in faith to fully live out God's plans.
