Having a Great Attitude

DAY 6 OF 10

Letting Go of Controlling

As we develop a great attitude, it involves more than just claiming our salvation and walking in new life; it requires a deep transformation. This includes letting go of things like grudges and control over our circumstances. For example, Jesus advises us not to worry about our lives, food, or clothing in Luke 12:22, emphasizing that worry adds nothing to our lives. We must release our need to control every detail and trust in God's providence, knowing that He is in charge. Similarly, embracing humility and forgiveness rather than controlling authority or succumbing to envy and greed is crucial. These negative traits, such as narcissism and envy, only serve to damage our attitude and relationships with others.

We are also called to let go of our over-controlling nature, whether it's through excessive worry, the desire for authority, or the pursuit of material wealth. As Christians, our identity and hope are found in Jesus, not in political systems or material possessions. By allowing the Holy Spirit to shape our lives and focusing on contentment, we can cultivate an attitude of gratitude rather than comparison. Remember, true control comes from being guided by the Spirit, bearing the fruit of love, joy, and self-control, which ultimately leads to a more positive and uplifting attitude.

Closing Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of Your guidance and grace as we seek to develop a great attitude. Help us to release our need for control and trust fully in Your providence. Teach us to let go of grudges, envy, and greed, and to embrace humility and forgiveness in our daily lives. Fill us with Your Spirit so that our attitudes reflect Your love and peace. May we find contentment in all that You provide and strive to live according to Your will. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Discussion Question: How can letting go of our need for control and embracing forgiveness impact our daily attitudes and relationships with others?
