Journey With Jesus 365Sample
“The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Behold, a man gluttonous and a wine drinker, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’” Many true statements have been made in jest, and countless tributes to virtue have been unwittingly offered by those with malicious intent. The enemies of our Lord Jesus aimed to tarnish His reputation, subjecting Him to derision and seeking to cast His name into everlasting scorn with their accusations. Even today, charges against Jesus persist.
The Savior is often revered by a title meant as an insult. It was intended to be a stigma that any good man would shun, yet it has become a source of fascination that captivates the hearts of all godly saints. In heaven, believers delight in singing of Him as a friend of sinners, which means He is a friend to us all. What began as disdain has turned into a profound recognition of grace.
Jesus has proven Himself to be a true friend to sinners, justifying those who once opposed Him. This title, once seen as offensive, now highlights His excellence as our Redeemer. We must remember that what He was then, He is still today. Let us take a moment today and thank the Lord that He is a friend to sinners! Take time to thank God for his friendship with us, his forgiveness, and reconciliation time and time again.
What do we have to be thankful for that God has forgiven us of? What transformation in our life should we give thanks for?
