Prayers of the Bible

DAY 27 OF 32

Today’s reading is about a prayer from the book of Ephesians.

Do you pray for the eyes of your hearts to be enlightened?

We have all had those moments when we are reading something or working on something and we find out a little more information, and what was good became so much better. That is what is available to us that Paul is talking about in this passage. A stronger grasp of all who God is, and how we are able to relate to Him.

So often we pray this prayer for people around us, but do ever really think to pray it for ourselves? We are given an incredible image of what it looks like. It looks like a confidence in the hope to which we are called. And we know that this hope is like an anchor for our souls, strong and true. It is a prayer to understand more the mystery of our glorious inheritance. And that we would comprehend the incredible power that raised Jesus from the dead.

It is easy to think, I totally understand the hope that I have in Jesus. However, I would argue that perhaps your vision is too small. It is important to have an understanding, but let's not limit ourselves and unwittingly neglect the depth and riches of who He is and the hope we have.

Today, ponder this: Write this prayer out for yourself; insert your name into it if that helps, that you would have your eyes enlightened even more.
