The Purpose of Christmasნიმუში

One of the best things about the Christmas season is the up close and personal reminder it gives us of the depths of God’s love for us. As the psalmist pointed out here, God doesn’t just love us; God delights in us! In other words, God likes us—all of us! That’s why God made such a way to be close to us once again.
God sent Jesus not because He had to, but because He wanted to. God sent Jesus to Earth to rescue us, to save us from our sins, and to make a way for us to be close to Him again. It’s the ultimate example of God’s unfailing love for us, and it’s what’s behind the heart of this season. God’s delight in us, God’s like for us, God’s love for us—they all motivated Him to act on our behalf and set a plan in motion that would rescue us for eternity.
Today, try to remind yourself how much God loves you. To do that, read a little more about the very first Christmas in the Bible this week. Dive into the events recorded in Luke 2:1-20 and take note of what they show you about God’s love for you.
